Greetings all,
Announcing the next meeting of The Annora Society.
After the mix up at the last meeting, the one where I somewhat stupidly decided to hold it in a pub that was showing a big football game on the television, I though I would try once more.
I would like to call the next meeting of the Annora Society for Wednesday 31st August 2011 to be held in the upstairs beer hall of The Bull and Castle next to Christchurch Cathedral at 7:30pm.
Don’t worry, I checked the football fixtures for that night and there no games to get in the way.
I haven’t booked any tables as I don’t envisage it being a very big affair.
I hope to see you all there for some good old banter and some light hearted revelry.
Cheers,
Robert
I just thought I would let you know how the first meeting ofthe Annora Society went.
No one showed up.
Actually, scratch that. Several people arrived, we just couldn't find each other. Ooops.
I think we need a better venue - one that isn't full of football fans. I'm open to suggestions.
Our first meeting will be on Wednesday 16th February 2011 at 7:30pm in the Long Stone Pub, Townsend Street, Dublin. This will probably be a fairly informal affair to let us get to know each other. Look for hte people in tweed.
This venue it is close to DART, Luas and bus services. If you get lost, it is directly behind Pease Street Garda Station.
Messrs. Google & Sons. have seen fit to furnish us with the following map indicating the location of The Long Stone Pub.
Monthly meetings will take place on the third Wednesday of every month at 7:30pm. The location may change so check back here regularly for updates.
Greetings All,
As you can see I tried to get this society off the ground last year, but it didn't quite work out. So I'm trying again.
Please feel free to have a look around the site, the post below this one is particualrly informative.
If you like what you see please feel free to join us. Membership is free for now and everyone is welcome.
Cheers,
Robert
Greetings and Dia Dhuit to you all,
Welcome to the embryonic website of the even more embryonic Annora Society.
We are a new Dublin based society that aims to promote and preserve gentlemanly behavior. Taking our inspiration from the London based New Sheridan Club, we aim to offer a refuge to those befuddled by modern life.

Who would join our club? We can't be specific, we are a broad church society that caters to many needs. However, if you find yourself agreeing with any of the following, you might like our little coterie.
We plan to run monthly meetings where our members can engage in general chit-chat, admire each others splendid outfits, drink and smoke and generally moan about the modern world. In addition to this we will also arrange outings and jaunts around the country and even a ball or two.
If you are thinking "Souunds good to me!", then please feel free to have a wander around our virtual home on the web and find out more about us, and maybe even consider joining perhaps?
We need members! We are a new society, set up by a couple of friends who share a common interest. In order for the Annora Society to become succesful we need to recruit as many new members as possible. If you like what you see and you agree with our view of things as specified on the 'Our Principle' page then we would love to have you as a member.
The primary purpose of the society is for people with an interest in gentlemanly behaviour and traditional values to get together with like minded folks and enjoy themselves free from the stresses of modern life. To make this venture a success, we need YOU!
To help get things up and running we will not be charging any membership fees until we reach a critical mass of fifteen Dublin members. In an ideal world we would not charge any fees as money is such a dirty word, but if we are to arrange events for our members then we will have to charge a small membership fee.
First Meeting
We are hoping to arrange our first meeting sometime around mid-April 2010. If you know of a good venue that we could use, namely a traditional pub in central Dublin with a good smoking area, then please feel free to get in touch with us.
Slán,
The Committee
